Asthma & Anaphylaxis Training – Local Safety Training in Yass, Murrumbateman & the Riverina

Learn how to help someone having an asthma attack or a serious allergic reaction with our Asthma and Anaphylaxis training. This course is perfect for teachers, childcare workers, parents, and anyone who cares for children. It’s available in Yass, Cootamundra, Canberra, and across the Riverina region.

You’ll learn what to do in an emergency, how to stay calm, and how to use asthma puffers and EpiPens safely. This training is easy to follow and gives you real skills to use in everyday situations. It meets national safety rules for working with children and is often required in schools and childcare centres.

What You’ll Learn

We’ll show you how to spot the signs of asthma and anaphylaxis, follow action plans, and give first aid quickly. You’ll get to practise using the right equipment and know when to call an ambulance. This course gives you confidence to help when it matters most.

  • Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

    • Refresher Face to Face contact time of at least 3 Hours

    • Blended Face to Face contact time of at least 3 Hours

    • Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 4 Hours 30 Mins

    • Online with face-to-face assessment Face to Face contact time of at least 30 Mins

  • As a minimum, entrants to the course must have literacy and numeracy competencies equivalent to the Australian Core Skills Framework Level 3. An example of an ACSF Level 3 competency is being able to read and comprehend the ASCIA Action Plan for Anaphylaxis, use and respond to communication techniques to request appropriate emergency assistance at the scene of a First Aid incident and use writing skills to complete incident reports.

    Physical fitness to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills.

    Online study options: The online learning program can be found in the student portal. Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online studies and practical assessment.

  • Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

  • Practical demonstrations:

    • Administer asthma medication (with a spacer)

    • Administer asthma medication (without a spacer)

    • Administer an adrenaline autoinjector for anaphylaxis

    • Provide first aid for an allergic reaction and anaphylaxis

    Documentation:

    • Complete a First aid/Incident report form

    • Complete a Risk Assessment

    • Complete an Individual Management Plan, which includes a Communication Plan

     Theory assessment:

    • A written exam consisting of multiple choice and short answer questions
